Characteristic of Yan Wei's work, Vivisection exhibits consummate line work, dripping contours, an unearthly kid and a touch of gore.
Yan Wei
Beijing artist Yan Wei exhibited for years before winning her place in the contemporary Chinese art spotlight—and in the permanent collection of the Shanghai Art Museum—for her work in "Infantization" (2007), a touring exhibition of China's most cutting-edge twentysomething artists. Yan has exhibited in China, France, Belgium, the U.S. and Italy. Her works explore the friction between childlike imagination and the adult world.
